Why is Airtightness so important?

With the growing trend towards greater energy efficiency in buildings, as driven by Building Regulations, air tightness plays a vital role in meeting these standards. Warm air can be retained within the building and cold air kept outside and it has been demonstrated that poor airtightness can be responsible for up to 40% of heat loss from buildings.

Preventing draughts provides greater thermal comfort and increased energy efficiency, which leads to lower heating costs.  Airtightness also protects the building fabric against damage, helping to maintain its appearance and extending the building’s life.  In addition to the financial benefits, high levels of airtightness also ensure healthy indoor air quality for the occupants.

We provide a range of airtight tapes and membranes from leading industry brands.
